What do we stand for?
The G-20Y VisionThe G-20Y Generation of young and successful business leaders cares about the prosperity of their immediate business environment as well as the development of their communities and countries. The G-20Y Vision is based on greater international cooperation, innovative ideas and mid- and long-term global economic prosperity.
Achieving greater international cooperation
The recent world financial and economic crisis has revealed the need for greater international cooperation.
Global challenges call for global responses. The effectiveness of these responses does not depend solely on the decisions made by
the G-20 Heads of State, but also on international cooperation between powerful regions, businesses and communities.
The G-20Y Generation has a key role to play in this respect. International cooperation is a second-nature for the G-20Y Generation,
which grew up in a globalized world. Business leaders of the G-20Y Generation are instinctively convinced that the success
of their businesses, and the solving of global challenges, can be achieved only through deeper international cooperation.
The G-20Y Generation is also the first generation for which the participation of 20 countries in international decision making is normal,
rather than a novel post-Cold War achievement. In a fast-changing world where the interests of all countries
are intricately interconnected and inter-dependent, young business leaders are convinced that they share a common fate and therefore believe
that the G-20 forum is the appropriate platform for effective international decision making.
Sharing our innovative ideas
More than ever in a time of economic tension, innovative thinking is necessary. The contribution of the G-20Y Generation is crucial in this respect. The world faces many pressing challenges, such as: imperiled water and food supplies, environmental change and financial instability. At the same time, there are many opportunities for entrepreneurial growth and success. G-20Y Generation business leaders have been successful so far thanks to their innovative thinking. Their future successes rely on further innovation, and innovation can help to solve the challenges that the world is facing. As the first new-technology generation, whose thinking is naturally innovative, the G-20Y Generation is a valuable source of new ideas.
Putting mid- and long-term global economic prosperity on today's international agenda
Sustainable solutions to the world's challenges are needed on a mid- and long-term basis. Sustainable mid- and long-term prosperity is not necessarily the most immediate concern of current world leaders. Their most pressing concern is to address today's short-term global economic challenges. Mid- and long-term prosperity is the mandate of the G-20Y Generation. It is our responsibility to put it on today's international agenda. The G-20Y Generation wishes to concentrate its efforts on producing, in the twenty-first century, an unprecedented period of sustainable worldwide economic growth.
What do we do?
The G-20Y Summits and Recommendations
The G-20Y Summit: turning the G-20Y Vision into practical Recommendations
The 2009 global recession made clear how fragile and volatile world economic growth is.
The G-20Y Generation cannot afford to stand aside or rely on the efforts of others, with a distant hope that the G-20Y Vision might, eventually, be achieved. The G-20Y Generation wishes to contribute with innovative ideas, to share its vision and to enrich international debate.
The G-20Y Summits are organized every year in order to turn the G-20Y Vision into practical Recommendations.
Over 3 or 4 days, the G-20Y Summits gather business leaders for plenary sessions, and discussions in working groups, round tables and face-to-face meetings.
On the basis of an agenda prepared in advance by the Expert Council, Chair and Business Assembly Board, about 150 delegates, representing all of the G-20 countries, prepare and discuss the final G-20Y Summit Recommendations.
These Recommendations are then spread worldwide through mass media and lobbied before the G-20 Heads of State through their team of sherpas and advisers.
Our Partners and Supporting Institutions are also invited to participate in the spreading of the G-20Y Recommendations.
The G-20Y Recommendations have been recognized by G-20 leaders offices as adding significant value to their efforts in responding to the current global economic and financial crisis and its consequences.
The G-20Y Summit: exchanging best business practices and creating strong bonds
While preparing the G-20Y Summit Recommendations during the Summit, delegates have the unique opportunity to meet, share views and perspectives and create strong bonds of business and friendship. While coming from all of the G-20 countries and having diverse backgrounds, the G-20Y delegates are united by a common desire to enhance international cooperation, develop business innovation and secure future economic prosperity. Hence, the G-20Y Summit is not only a unique personal experience for each delegate, it also greatly contributes to the development of delegates businesses. G-20Y Summits offer an unprecedented chance to exchange ideas on successful business practice, attracting investment, entering new markets and the ultimate goal of creating a more prosperous world. During the G-20Y Summits, delegates also highly value their direct contact with key members of our Supporting Institutions such as the IMF, the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
